Kazakhstan’s initiative highly praised at the OTS Summit
On May 20-21, 2025, the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Budapest, Hungary. In the Final Declaration of the summit, Kazakhstan’s initiative to establish a Consultative Platform of the Central Electoral Authorities of OTS Member States was highly praised.
During the summit, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the establishment of the Consultative Platform of Central Electoral Authorities (APCEA) as one of Kazakhstan’s key initiatives, noting that its inaugural meeting was successfully held in the spiritual capital of the Turkic world - the city of Turkistan:
"At Kazakhstan’s initiative, a Consultative Platform of Electoral Authorities was established last week, and its first meeting was successfully held in ancient Turkistan."
The OTS Summit highly commended Kazakhstan’s initiative in its Final Declaration:
"We highly appreciate the establishment of the Consultative Platform of Central Electoral Authorities of the OTS Member States and welcome the outcomes of its first meeting, as well as the organization of the International Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic 'The Turkic World: Traditions, Practice, and Prospects for the Development of Electoral Systems,' held on May 13-15, 2025, in Turkistan."
It should be noted that on May 14, 2025, in the city of Turkistan, the Regulation on the Consultative Platform of Central Electoral Authorities of the OTS Member States were signed. On the same day, the International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “The Turkic World: Traditions, Practice, and Prospects for the Development of Electoral Systems” was organized by the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
