Nurlan Abdirov met with the Head of the CIS Observer Mission

Today, on March 16, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a meeting between CEC Chairman of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov and First Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Leonid Anfimov, appointed Head of the CIS Observer Mission for the election of Mazhilis Members to the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Central Election Commission Mukhtar Yerman and CEC member Shavkhat Utemissov. On behalf of the CIS Observer Mission, Head of Staff Oleg Kuleba and Deputy Head of the Press Service of the CIS Executive Committee Vitaly Krasnobayev took part.

Nurlan Abdirov briefed Leonid Anfimov and the staff of the CIS Executive Committee on the preparation and conduct of the elections of Mazhilis Members to the Parliament, scheduled for March 19, briefly informed about the results of registration of candidates for Mazhilis Members to the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the results of accreditation of international observers.

The CEC Chairman stressed that the participation of CIS observers increases public confidence in the elections.

The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan carried out final activities for the preparation and conduct of voting. Electoral commissions are ready to ensure openness of electoral procedures and compliance with electoral legislation.

He noted that the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the presence of missions of international organisations to observe the elections and thanked his colleagues for their constant participation in the meetings of the Central Election Commission and other events.

In turn, Leonid Anfimov spoke about the activities of the Mission of CIS observers in the elections, stressing that the Mission assesses the conduct of elections for compliance with generally recognised principles of democratic elections and national legislation. The Mission will announce its assessment in its Statement agreed with all coordinators from the CIS countries on the day after the elections.
