About field workshop-meetings in the Pavlodar region and Astana
On March 1-2, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Konstantin Petrov and CEC member Sabila Mustafina paid an inspection visit to the territorial election commissions of the Pavlodar region and Astana.
During the trip, members of the CEC held field workshop-meetings on the preparation and conduct of early elections of members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament and maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for March 19, 2023.
Representatives of local executive bodies, employees of regional prosecutor’s offices, members of territorial election commissions, representatives of campaign headquarters of candidates, international observers and media representatives took part in the events.
Members of the Central Election Commission explained to the participants all the novelties in the electoral legislation, issues of financing the election campaign, summarised the results of registration of candidates for Mazhilis Members to the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 29 single-seat constituencies, and also heard reports from the regions on the work done in preparation for the upcoming elections.
Didar Ibrayev, head of administration of the akim of the Pavlodar region, reported on the work done to update the voter lists.
Call-centres have been launched in all akimats of cities and districts. On the basis of the Unified Contact Centre 109, a special round-the-clock line operates, and a search service for IIN on a telegram bot operates.
On February 25, voter lists of 512,200 people were transferred to precinct election commissions.
He noted that all 523 polling stations will be involved in the elections. All of them are financed and equipped, including taking into account the needs of persons with disabilities.
In total, there are 3,200 voters with disabilities in the region who need special conditions for voting (899 wheelchair users, 1,553 visually impaired and 784 hearing impaired).
All polling stations are located on the first floors of buildings, which have all the conditions for unhindered access of citizens with disabilities.
For the convenience of persons with disabilities and their delivery to polling stations on voting day, the Invataxi service will be provided.
For persons with hearing and vision disabilities, corners equipped with computers with a diagonal of 54 cm, headphones, magnifiers, Braille stencils will be provided at each polling station.
In order to implement the electoral rights of persons with disabilities, during the period of the campaign, for persons with disabilities who are not able to visit polling stations, field commissions with a portable ballot box will be organised.
Also during the meeting, the first deputy prosecutor of the region, Talgat Alibayev, spoke, who informed about the activities of the supervisory authority to ensure compliance with the law by the participants of the electoral process.
During the workshop-meeting held in Astana, CEC members organised trainings in the form of a business game based on real cases for the territorial election commissions.
At the end of the workshop-meeting, the members of the Central Election Commission answered all the questions of interest to the members of the territorial election commissions.
