On February 10, 2023, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the basis of the Academy of NGOs, held an online workshop for representatives of political parties, other public associations and non-profit organisations aimed at observing the early elections of members of the Mazhilis and maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan scheduled for March 19, 2023.
The workshop was moderated by Madiyar Kozhakhmet, Chairman of the Committee for Civil Society Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Konstantin Petrov, CEC Deputy Chairman, spoke about the peculiarities of preparing and holding early elections of members to the Mazhilis to the Parliament and maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In particular, he spoke about the innovations of the electoral system, the operation of imperative law, the results of the stage of nominating candidates and parties, the timing of the stage of registration and election campaigning, the peculiarities of voting and the timeframes for vote count and determining the voting results.
CEC member Anastassiya Schegortsova spoke about the legal basis for monitoring the early elections of members to the Mazhilis of the Parliament and Maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and spoke about the procedure for accrediting public associations and non-profit organisations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as about the activities and powers of national observers.
