The Central Election Commission hosted a briefing for representatives of
foreign media
On November 19, a briefing was held at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for representatives of foreign media on holding early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for November 20, 2022.
The briefing, jointly organised with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was attended by 46 journalists from 37 countries, including from the countries of Central Asia, Europe, North America, North Africa, etc.
Secretary of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Yerman briefed representatives of foreign media on the results of the main stages of the electoral campaign, the number of voters and polling stations in the country, international observers accredited to the elections, peculiarities of voting at polling stations, electoral education, etc.
Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Konstantin Petrov dwelled on the provisional norms of the Constitutional Act of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan,” which regulate the activities of foreign media representatives at polling stations on voting day.
In turn, representatives of foreign media asked members of the Central Election Commission on the organisation and conduct of the election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular, on the procedure for conducting public opinion polls, the results of the stage of the election campaign, holding election debates and discussions, the rights and obligations of observers, the media and other participants of the election process at the polling stations.
At the end of the meeting, members of the Central Election Commission stressed that the Central Election Commission will ensure maximum openness, transparency and democratic voting procedures.
