A joint briefing was held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic
of Kazakhstan and the Central Election Commission for the heads of
diplomatic missions and representatives of international organisations
On November 15, a briefing was held for the heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organisations on the preparation and conduct of the elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for November 20, 2022, which has already become a tradition
The briefing was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi and Chairman of the Central Election Commission Nurlan Abdirov.
In his opening speech, Mukhtar Tleuberdi noted that the upcoming elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan are another important milestone in the development of democracy in the country.
In turn, Nurlan Abdirov informed the participants of the briefing about the main features of the election campaign, and also dwelled on the timing of the introduction of certain norms of the Constitutional Act “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
“The Law reflects constitutional changes, according to which the President is now elected for a term of 7 years, no more than once. The regulatory provision on a one-time seven-year presidential term is put into effect after 10 calendar days after the official publication, that is, on November 17 this year. Thus, the term of office of the President of Kazakhstan elected during the upcoming popular vote on November 20 will be calculated according to the new constitutional regulatory provision,” Nurlan Abdirov said.
In preparation for the presidential elections, CEC members visited all regions of the republic, checked the readiness of members of territorial and precinct election commissions, the material and technical equipment of polling stations, and the provision of the necessary conditions for exercising the electoral rights of citizens with disabilities. At the end of working trips, methodological and advisory assistance was provided to members of territorial and precinct election commissions by members of the CEC.

A Working Group at the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan was created to ensure the electoral rights of persons with disabilities, a separate meeting was held on this issue.

“We attach great importance to the presence of missions of international organisations that take part in observing the early presidential elections. This shows the interest of foreign partners in this event. For international observers, all necessary conditions have been created for full-fledged observation of the preparation and holding of early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Central Election Commission will ensure maximum openness, transparency and democratic voting procedures,” Nurlan Abdirov said finishing his speech.
