Members of the CEC held a field workshop-meeting in the Ulytau region
on the preparation and conduct of the election of the President of the Republic
of Kazakhstan
On November 1-2 this year Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Konstantin Petrov and member of the CEC Sabila Mustafina held a workshop-meeting in the Ulytau region on the preparation and conduct of early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The workshop-meeting was attended by members of territorial and precinct election commissions, representatives of the campaign headquarters of candidates, the media, authorised state and law enforcement agencies. A total of 150 people took part in the events.
CEC members heard reports from authorised state bodies on the work carried out in the regions.
Thus, head of the office of the regional akim A. Zhailybayev reported on the work done by the LEB on the voter lists, organisational, logistical support for the elections.
Deputy Head of the Department for the Coordination of Employment and Social Programs Z. Akylbekova informed about ensuring the physical accessibility of polling stations and voting conditions for persons with disabilities. Thus, she reported that there are 493 voters with disabilities in the Ulytau region, namely, 216 people who use wheelchairs, 106 people who are hearing-impaired, and 171 people who are visually impaired. The total number of polling stations in the region is 136. By the voting day, ramps will be installed at all polling stations, equipped with tactile signs. Areas and voting booths for persons with disabilities will also be organised. In Zhezkazgan and Satpayev, invataxi will be used.
Deputy Head of the Department for the Protection of Public Interests of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office R. Sadvakassov reported on supervision over the observance by the participants of the electoral process of the electoral legislation, on the envisaged administrative liability for violations of the procedure and conditions of the election campaign.
Within the framework of the workshop-meeting, trainings were held for territorial and precinct election commissions with simulation of real situations that occurred in previous election campaigns.
The trainings are aimed at developing the practical skills of members of election commissions, skills of interaction and communication with other participants in the electoral process. Members of the CEC, directly participating in the business game “Voting Day,” instructed and corrected the participants, asked questions about voting procedures.
CEC members also monitored rural polling stations for their readiness for the voting day and material, technical and information equipment.
