“Electoral Process in the Republic of Kazakhstan: Theory and Practice” Training Course for Representatives of Youth Organisations
From September 21 to 23, 2022, a three-day training course “Electoral Process in the Republic of Kazakhstan: Theory and Practice” was held for representatives of youth organisations of regions, cities of republican significance and the capital, cities, districts and districts in the city.
The event was organised by the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with the Centre for Electoral Education of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The training course was aimed at giving trainees a holistic view of the electoral process in Kazakhstan and increasing young people’s confidence in the institution of elections.
The training program consisted of two units: offline module - based on the Center for Electoral Education of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and post-module – post-training support of the course within 2 weeks after the completion of the offline module via online chat.
On the first day of training, the audience was provided with an overview lecture on the topic “The Institute of Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Features of the election campaign of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission K.V. Petrov spoke about the development of the country’s electoral system and the procedural features of the upcoming election campaigns.
The subject of electoral education of young and future voters was detailed by S.S.Mustafina, member of the Central Election Commission.
Lectures on novelties in the electoral legislation and the financial aspects of the elections were delivered by employees of the CEC apparatus.
At the end of the day, the participants were trained on the electoral culture of youth.
On the second day, members and staff of the Central Election Commission informed the audience in detail about the organisational and legal aspects of the preparation and conduct of election campaigns in Kazakhstan, including methods of election campaigning, international principles and standards of international observation, national observation, conditions for ensuring electoral rights for persons with disabilities, and other issues. The speakers of the day were members of the CEC A.A.Smagulov, A.G.Schegortsova, employees of the CEC, invited expert K.B.Baymenova.
The entire second half of the day the listeners were busy with trainings on the basics of fact-checking and information technologies during the period of electoral campaigns.
The final day of the course was held in the format of training sessions on value orientations and behaviour patterns of young voters.
At the end of the day, each participant received a certificate of completion of the course.
