Members of the Central Referendum Commission Check the Readiness of Polling Stations for Voting

Shafkhat Utemissov paid a two-day visit to the Mangistau region. On May 23 this year he held a workshop-meeting with the participation of the deputy akim of the region, the head of the administration of the akim of the region, the heads of the department of justice, the department for coordinating employment and social programmes, a representative of the prosecutor’s office of the region, members of the territorial referendum commissions. The purpose of the workshop-meeting was to explain the legal foundations for organising and holding a republican referendum. Participation in a training workshop at polling station No. 8 in Aktau.

On the second day, Shafkhat Utemissov visited the villages of Baskudyk, Bayandy and Mangystau of the Munaily region, the villages of Kuryk, Munaishy and Zhetibay of the Karakiya district, where he checked the readiness of the polling stations for voting.

On May 24, members of the Central Referendum Commission Konstantin Petrov and Sabila Mustafina held a workshop-conference in the building of the Philharmonic Society of the capital, where the following issues were considered:

1. “Republican referendum: relevance, features and preparation of the referendum”;

2. “On the Draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan”;

3. “On issues of campaigning on the eve of the republican referendum”;

4. “On issues of responsibility for violation of the law on the republican referendum”;

5. “On the work of the akimat on the material and technical equipment of polling stations, creation of conditions for ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, transfer of lists of citizens entitled to participate in the republican referendum to the referendum commission”;

6. "On the procedure for voting at the republican referendum."

The meeting was attended by the head of the administration of the akim of Nur-Sultan, the head of the employment and social protection department of the city, the deputy head of the justice department, a representative of the city prosecutor’s office, members of the territorial referendum commissions.

Within the framework of the meeting, a training session using practice-oriented methods was held to prepare members of the commissions. Professional competencies were worked out in the form of the “Voting Day” business game.

On May 24, Anastassiya Shchegortsova, a member of the Central Referendum Commission, arrived in the Karaganda region. During the visit, she spoke with members of the precinct referendum commission No. 656 of Yesil village, Osakarovsky district. Anastassiya Schegortsova held a workshop on the organisation and holding of a republican referendum with members of the referendum commissions and representatives of interested services in the district akimat of the Osakarovsky district.

She also had a meeting with members of precinct referendum commissions No. 651, 652, 653 of the village of Osakarovka, where the measures taken by the territorial referendum commission and the readiness of the polling stations were substantively checked.
