A group of international observers of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in observing presidential elections in Turkmenistan
From March 11 to March 13, 2022, a group of international observers of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by a member of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan Assylbek Smagulov, took part in observing the early presidential elections of Turkmenistan on March 12, 2022.
Within the framework of the visit, member of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Assylbek Smagulov took part in a general meeting with the Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan. The member of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan also took part in a meeting of the Council of Coordinators of the CIS Observer Mission at which the Mission's Statement on results of monitoring preparations and holding of presidential elections of Turkmenistan was adopted during a press conference on results of the Mission’s work.
International observers of Kazakhstan in the composition of observer missions from the CIS, SCO got acquainted with the work of precinct election commissions, and also on Election Day observed opening of polling stations, voting process, vote counting in the city of Ashgabat and the Akhal velayat.
Nine candidates nominated by three political parties and initiative groups of citizens applied for the highest state post in Turkmenistan. The candidate who received more than half of the votes of the voters who took part in the election will be declared the elected president.
About 50 international observers were accredited at the elections in Turkmenistan; more than 2,700 national observers were present at the polling stations.
