CEC summed up results of the first round of the Student Internet Olympiad

The Central Election Commission summed up the results of the first round of Internet Olympiad "Election systems of the countries of the world" among students of universities in Kazakhstan.

The qualifying round took place in the format of online testing aimed at assessing ideas about the main varieties and features of the electoral systems of the countries of the world, the CIS states and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

354 students from 37 universities of the country have registered to participate in the interactive testing.

Based on the results of testing 11 students were identified with the highest number of points who will take part in the second round of the Internet Olympiad:

The second round - the contest "Best Debater" - will take place on September 24 this year.

According to Regulations on the Internet Olympiad winners of the first round will have to demonstrate their debating skills in front of the National Jury which includes representatives of Central Election Commission, Central Election Commission Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Association of Kazakhstan Universities leading scientists and experts in constitutional and electoral law.

It should be also reminded that Internet Olympiad is a national stage of an international project initiated by International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism and Observance of Electoral Rights of Citizens of the Member States of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States and organized jointly with Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The winner of Internet Olympiad will take part in December this year in the International Youth School "Youth Parliamentarism as the Basis for Sustainable Political Development and Partnership of the CIS Countries", organized under the auspices of the IIMDD IPA (St. Petersburg).
