Start of the Internet Olympiad
Today, on September 22, 2021, the annual Internet Olympiad "Electoral systems from all over the world" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan started among university students.
The Internet Olympiad is the national stage of international project initiated by the International Institute for Monitoring the Development of Democracy, Parliamentarism and Respect for Electoral Rights of Citizens of the member States of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States. It was organized jointly with the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The key partner of the event is the Association of Higher Educational Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the moment the first qualifying round of the Olympiad is taking place during which students undergo online testing to determine the level of knowledge on electoral legislation and electoral systems of Kazakhstan and foreign countries. 350 students from 36 universities of the regions of Kazakhstan have applied for participation in the Olympiad.
At the second stage, the best students who scored the highest number of points in testing will have a debate tournament for the title of "Best Debater". It will be held on September 24 this year from 11.00 to 13.00 hours according to the time of Nursultan city.
The winner of the Internet Olympiad will take part in December this year in the International Youth School "Youth Parliamentarism as the basis for sustainable political development and partnership of the CIS countries" organized under the auspices of the IIMRD IPA (St. Petersburg).
