Meeting of the Central Election Commission on the results of the regular elections of deputies of maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan

  

On January 12, 2021, meeting was held at the Central Election Commission on the results of the regular elections of deputies of maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan and distribution of deputy mandates of maslikhats based on the results of voting.

The meeting was attended by representatives of political parties, territorial election commissions of regions, Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent - in the videoconferencing mode, representatives of the media - online.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Berik Imashev noted that territorial election commissions have the authority to establish the results of elections of maslikhat deputies. The corresponding work was carried out by the territorial election commissions of the regions, Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent in all 216 maslikhats.

In this regard, within the framework of the agenda, at the meeting, reports of territorial election commissions on the results of regular elections of deputies of maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan and distribution of deputy mandates of maslikhats based on the results of voting were heard.

Summing up the results of the meeting, Berik Imashev noted that for the first time deputies of maslikhats were elected according to a proportional electoral system. This is a logical continuation of the 2007 constitutional reform and unifies the approaches to the formation of representative bodies at the republican and local levels.

According to the Constitutional Act "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan", the order of distribution of deputy mandates is determined by the governing body of the corresponding branch of a political party no later than five days from the date of publication of the elections results.

The message on the results of elections of deputies of maslikhats shall be published in local media by the corresponding territorial election commissions.
