On December 30, 2020, the TV pre-election debates of political parties that nominated lists of candidates for deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place on the air of the Khabar Agency JSC.
The debates in the Kazmedia Center building were observed by representatives of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Center for Non-Party Observation of Elections, the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan, as well as international observers from the OSCE/ODIHR and CIS Missions.
Representatives of political parties participated in the televised debates: Aikyn Konurov - Chairman of the People's Party of Kazakhstan; Bauyrzhan Baibek - First Deputy Chairman of the Nur Otan Party; Ali Bektayev - chairman of the "Auyl" party; Azat Peruashev - chairman of the Ak Zhol party; Eldar Zhumagaziyev - member of the Political Council of the Adal party.
According to the regulations approved by the Central Election Commission, the TV debates were divided into 3 rounds.
"Economic development of Kazakhstan" was the topic of the first round. The first round of pre-election television debates and discussions took place in two rounds. In the first round, each participant made a speech to present election program. The second round was held in the form of a discussion session "questions and answers" from the participants to their opponents. Participants asked their opponents two questions each, and also answered two questions posed by their opponents.
“Social welfare of citizens” was the topic of the second round. The second round also consisted of two rounds. In the first round of the second round, the participants spoke on a given topic. In the second round, there was one question from the presenters to all participants.
In the third and final round, the participants directly addressed the voters.
All procedures specified in the regulation were observed. The participants were provided with equal opportunities and conditions for performing. Anastassiya Schegortsova, member of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, followed the observance of the regulations and the general conduct of debates in the studio.
