On January 23-25, 2020, the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan joined events of the Election Commission of India in New Delhi
On January 23-25, 2020, a representative of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in a number of events hosted by the Indian Election Commission in New Delhi to celebrate the National Voters Day, which is annually celebrated in India on January 25.
The celebrations included an international conference themed as “Institutional Strengthening”, which was held in New Delhi.
Other than a representative from Kazakhstan, the conference welcomed representatives of the election commissions of the Maldives, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Mauritius, Nepal, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, as well as the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
At the conference, heads and representatives of delegations from election bodies and international organizations addressed the audience with presentations and shared their experiences and initiatives aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of elections.
The 10th National Voter Day was celebrated at the Manekshaw Centre with the participation of the President of India, foreign delegations, diplomatic missions, and the Indian public. The holiday was established in 2011 by the Government of India to increase the civic participation of young voters and to encourage them to participate in the political process.
The involvement of the CEC of Kazakhstan in these events was an active continuation of bilateral cooperation between the central election bodies of Kazakhstan and India.
