Working visit of Member of the Central Election Commission L. Suleimen to Almaty Oblast

On May 31 and June 1, 2019, under the leadership of Member of the Central Election Commission (hereinafter - the CEC) Lyazzat Suleimen, two training workshops were held for election officials on the topic “Activities of election commissions during the preparation and conduct of the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for June 9, 2019.

The workshops were attended by chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, secretaries and members of territorial and precinct election commissions, certified electoral trainers, deputy head of Akim’s Office of Almaty Oblast, as well as deputy akim and head of the Akim’s Office of Kapshagai city, representatives of local executive bodies and the media.

In total, 574 people took part in the training workshops.

Member of the Central Election Commission L. Suleimen made reports in two regions. The reports described in detail the activities of election commissions, both during the preparation of the election and on the voting day.

During the workshop, the participants were familiarized with changes in the electoral legislation, the main stages of the election campaign, the conditions for the election campaigning of candidates, the powers of electoral commissions to prepare and conduct elections, the tasks of territorial electoral commissions and local executive bodies to ensure the rights of citizens with disabilities. It is also noted that the activity of all election commissions is carried out on the basis of collegiality, openness and publicity, and special attention is paid to strict compliance with the requirements of the current legislation on elections and professional development of election commission members.

Deputy Head of Akim's Office of Almaty Oblast Zh. Alimbekov and head of the Kapshagai Akim's Office Zh. Kozhakhmetov reported on the work done to compile voter lists, the measures taken for the material and technical equipment of polling stations, including the provision of conditions for persons with disabilities.

The chairpersons of the Oblast Election Commission T. Dautov, the Kapshagai City Election Commission M. Aytov, the Ili District Election Commission G. Chinayeva, the Taldykorgan City Election Commission E. Koshanbekov, the Sarkand District Election Commission O. Tertyubayev, informed about the current state of the election campaign, the preparation of polling stations for the voting day, the training of members of election commissions by the cascade method and the method of distance learning and testing.

Acting chief expert of the CEC Department for the Organization of the Electoral Process, B. Baisseitov, made a report on the main activities of precinct election commissions during the preparation and conduct of the election on June 9, 2019.

During the training workshops, the participants asked questions on the progress of the main stages of the election campaign, on working with voter lists, the powers of election commissions to prepare and conduct elections, and the observance of the election legislation.

There was an active exchange of views, as well as a separate meeting with the territorial election commissions and a discussion on the work of election commissions.

At the end of the workshops, Member of the Central Election Commission L. Suleimen gave an interview to the media about the work of election commissions during the preparation and conduct of the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, scheduled for June 9, 2019.

The representatives of the Central Election Commission together with the Oblast Election Commission also visited 7 polling stations of the cities of Kapshagai and Taldykorgan to assist them in preparing for the election.
