CEC of Kazakhstan holds meeting with Secretary General of A-WEB Yong-Hi Kim on May 17, 2019
On May 17, 2019, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting between Konstantin Petrov, the Deputy Chairperson of the CEC of Kazakhstan, and CEC member Zauresh Baimoldina, with Secretary General of A-WEB Yong-Hi Kim.
During the meeting, issues related to the change of status of A-WEB from an international non-governmental organization to an international intergovernmental organization, as well as further cooperation between the RK CEC and A-WEB, were discussed.
The representatives of the RK CEC informed that the CEC, being a member of A-WEB since October 2013, is interested in remaining a member of the Association, since participation in A-WEB allows being involved in global electoral processes, participate in the international electoral building process, study and learn from positive world experience in conducting democratic elections.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to further strengthen cooperation.
For reference: A-WEB is an international organization uniting the central electoral authorities of 105 states of the world. Kazakhstan is a member of the Association since its foundation in 2013.
