The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting of the linguistic commission on April 27, 2019
On April 27, 2019, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting of the linguistic commission to establish fluency of Toleutai Rakhimbekov in the state language, a nominee from the Public Association “Auyl People’s Democratic Patriotic Party”.
The linguistic examination had all three stages: a written assignment on a topic, reading a printed text and public speaking for at least fifteen minutes on a topic given by the linguistic commission. After passing the exam, there was a discussion and debriefing by the linguistic commission. The meeting was attended by a member of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lyazzat Suleimen.
Mass media had the opportunity to attend the beginning of the examination and learn about the results of the examination immediately after the debriefing. A member of the linguistic commission, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philology, the Director of the A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics, Professor Yerden Kazhybek, voiced the results of the meeting.
The writing task was on the topic: “Our Strength in Unity”. The written work was evaluated on the content, style, spelling and punctuation.
As for the second assignment, the applicant read an excerpt from the novel “The Path of Abai” by Mukhtar Auezov.
The third task was a 15-minute speech on the topic “Elorda is the Foundation of Independence”. The applicant used all the time provided to him for the assignment. The member of the commission noted that all three works had the highest quality. Following the results of the linguistic examination, the applicant showed a proper level of proficiency in the state language.
The linguistic commission, by open vote, unanimously decided that the candidate for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Toleutai Rakhimbekov, is fluent in the state language.
