On April 16, 2019, there was a meeting of Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Imashev B.M., with representatives of the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission
Usually, the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission is sent to a country several months before the beginning of the elections in order to assess the pre-election environment and prepare for the elections to make recommendations on the expediency of election-related activities.
The OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission visited Kazakhstan three times: on June 21-24, 2004 on the eve of the regular elections of members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament, on September 13-17, 2005 on the eve of the regular presidential elections, on March 3-6, 2015 on the eve of the early presidential election. This visit of the Mission is the second visit for the early election.
During the constructive dialogue, members of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with OSCE/ODIHR election advisors Radivoye Grujic and Vladimir Misev and Representative of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Dmitry Todorich discussed issues related to the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan of 9 June 2019.
It should be reminded that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed invitations to foreign states and international organizations (OSCE/ODIHR, OSCE PA, PACE, CIS, PA CSTO, IPA CIS, SCO, CCTS, OIC) to send observers to the upcoming presidential elections. The CEC invited the heads of electoral authorities of 25 foreign states in the framework of bilateral cooperation.
