Secretary of the Central Election Commission S. Mustafina took part in the meeting of the General Assembly of the Association of World election bodies in Romania
On 31 August 2017 the Secretary of the Central Election Commission Sabila Mustafina took part in the third meeting of the General Assembly of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) in Bucharest (Romania).
The CEC is an institutional member of the A-WEB since its foundation in 2013. The aim of the A-WEB is to promote international cooperation in exchanging information and experience in organizing and holding open and transparent elections, as well as supporting electoral bodies in strengthening and developing the organizational and legal framework, the professional component of holding democratic elections.
During the meeting of the A-WEB General Assembly the new Chairman of the A-WEB, the Vice-Chairman, the new members of the Executive Committee were elected and the General Secretary was re-elected as well as the Charter of the A-WEB was amended and the Association's plans for 2018 year was discussed.
Also, within the framework of the meeting of the A-WEB General Assembly on 1 and 2 September 2017, an international conference on the topic: "Counting ballots and responsibility for counting votes: Using technology to improve the transparency of electoral processes," which will discuss the use of information technology in the electoral process and role of the media in covering the election campaign will be held.
