On 29 October by-election of deputies of maslikhats will take place in Kazakhstan

In accordance with clause 4 of Article 101 of the Constitutional Act of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan" on 29 October of this year, in 15 regions of the republic by-election of deputies of maslikhats will be held in 105 electoral districts.

By-election of deputies of maslikhats is called by oblast election commissions.

According to the electoral legislation, the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, during the organization and conduct of this by-election, shall provides methodological guidance to the territorial election commissions as well as control over the compliance of their activities with the requirements of the election law.

At the moment, all the involved election commissions are provided with the necessary materials, technical, financial resources and are ready for the election campaign.

In total 22 deputies of oblast, 19 deputies of city and 64 deputies of district maslikhats will be elected.

In accordance with the Constitutional Act "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan," the nomination of candidates to maslikhat deputies is made by republican or local public associations registered in accordance with the established procedure, as well as by their structural divisions and citizens - through self-nomination.

For the election of a maslikhat deputy, a citizen must meet the requirements stipulated in clause 3 of Article 86 of the Constitution, and also have the right to vote in accordance with clauses 2 and 3 of Article 33 of the Constitution and the Constitutional Act "On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan".

Therefore, a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who reached the age of 20, can be elected as a maslikhat deputy. Citizens who are recognized as incapable by the court and who are held in places of deprivation of liberty by a court verdict are not eligible to elect and to be elected.

The nomination of candidates to maslikhat deputies will be held from 29 August till 29 September. The registration of candidates will be completed on 3 October of this year.
