On 14 October 2005 the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized a round table «On organization of public control at the elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 4 December 2005 in lieu of the requirements envisaged by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 9 September 2005 “On measures for exercising the voting rights of the citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
The participants of the round table were representatives of public associations on control over the upcoming elections, representatives of political parties and NGOs of Kazakhstan. They have discussed the regulatory legal framework related to elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the role of NGOs in establishment of effective public control over election process.
The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan has a position of openness and collaboration to all organizations interested in conducting election campaign in strict accordance with the provisions of the Constitutional Law “On elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan”.
In conclusion the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on elections complies with all international standards. However, only strict observance of the Law by all participants of the election process would allow realizing all democratic potential of our legislation and conducting open and transparent elections.
