According to the Calendar Plan of major activities for preparation and carrying out next Presidential Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan approved by the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 13/27 dated September 8, 2005, process of registration of the candidates to the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan has been carried out from October 3 to 24, 2005.
     
1. Nazarbayev Nursultan Abishevich
An abstract from minutes of the VIII-th extraordinary convention of the «Republican Political Party “Otan” Public Association was submitted to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 12, 2005. The abstract stated that during convention of the «Republican Political Party “Otan” Public Association it was made a decision to nominate the candidate Nazarbayev Nursultan Abishevich for the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The abstract from minutes was submitted together with application expressing the consent of Nazarbayev N.A. to run for presidential candidacy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev Nursultan Abishevich was born on July 6, 1940. He is ethnical Kazakh. The candidate is the natural born citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The candidate is the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He is a resident of Astana city. The candidate has been living in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 65 years. He was nominated by the «Republican Political Party “Otan” Public Association on September 9, 2005.
The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a resolution on September 14, 2005 «On Establishing Eligibility of the Candidate for the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan - Nazarbayev Nursultan Abishevich - to the requirements stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan».
In accordance with this Resolution Nazarbayev Nursultan Abishevich , candidate for the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan, meets the requirements stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan.     

On October 7, 2005 there was a meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to consider the issue of registering Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev as a presidential candidate.
Pursuant to Item 5 of Article 59 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Central Election Commission received:
1. an abstract from minutes of the VIII-th extraordinary convention of the «Republican Political Party “Otan” Public Association , which decided to nominate Nursultan Nazarbayev as a presidential candidate from the «Republican Political Party “Otan” Public Association with an enclosed copy of the document of registration of this public association in the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
2. Nursultan Nazarbayev ’s statement of consent to be nominated as a presidential candidate;
3. biographic data of Nursultan Nazarbayev ;
4. minutes of the regional election commissions about the results of verifying signatures to support Nursultan Nazarbayev ;
5. a official document from the tax authorities that the candidate and his wife have filed their tax returns;
6. an invoice of election fee paid by the candidate.
Having considered the submitted documents, the Central lection Commission found that the requirements of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan and issued a Decree to register Nursultan Nazarbayev as a presidential candidate.

2. Tuyakbai Zharmakhan Aitbayevich
An abstract from minutes of general meeting of the «Bloc of Democratic Forces “For Fair Kazakhstan” Republican Public Association was submitted to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 12, 2005. The abstract stated that during general meeting of the «Bloc of Democratic Forces “For Fair Kazakhstan” Republican Public Association it was made a decision to nominate the candidate Tuyakbai Zharmakhan Aitbayevich for the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The abstract from minutes was submitted together with application expressing the consent of Tuyakbai Zh.А. to run for presidential candidacy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Tuyakbai Zharmakhan Aitbayevich was born on November 22, 1947. He is ethnical Kazakh. The candidate is the natural born citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The candidate is the Chairman of the «Bloc of Democratic Forces “For Fair Kazakhstan” Republican Public Association. He is a resident of Almaty city. The candidate has been living in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 58 years. He was nominated by the «Bloc of Democratic Forces “For Fair Kazakhstan” Republican Public Association on September 10, 2005.
The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a resolution on September 15, 2005 «On Establishing Eligibility of the Candidate for the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan - Tuyakbai Zharmakhan Aitbayevich - to the requirements stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan».

In accordance with this Resolution Tuyakbai Zharmakhan Aitbayevich , candidate for the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan, meets the requirements stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On October 15, 2005 there was a meeting of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to consider the issue of registering Mr. Zharmakhan Tuyakbai as a presidential candidate.

Thus there have been nominated 18 candidates as of October 17, 2005, including 4 candidates nominated by public associations and 14 candidates nominated through self-nomination. Linguistic commission defined 12 candidates as fluent in state language. The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan defined 13 candidates who meet the requirements stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan. 1 person withdrew his candidacy after registration. 2 persons registered as the candidates to the Presidency in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
