On July 3, 2007 the session of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. By the Decision of the Central Election Commission the Regulation on Coordinative Methodical Committee on development of professional training for organizers of elections as well as on legal education of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan was approved.
This committee is established under the Central Election Commission as a constantly working consultative body.
Its major aims are to elaborate a common concept and strategy for organization of the work on development of legal culture of the participants of the election process, to study best international practice in this area, and to develop relationships between election commissions, government bodies, public associations and international organizations in field of legal education.
As the Chairman of the Central Election Commission noticed a special attention to this work is paid because the professional level of the members of election commissions and legal competence of the voters themselves predetermine how in practice the norms of the electoral legislation and suffrage would be implemented and observed.
Also today the Central Election Commission confirmed the training courses program designed for the participants of election process and members of election commissions which will ensure efficient education in concise time.
During the briefing conducted after the session the Chairman of the Central Election Commission informed journalists about the progress in the election campaign at elections of deputies to Mazhilis of the Parliament to be elected on the basis of party lists and elections of deputies to the Maslikhats.
As on July 3, 2007 51 candidates to deputies of Maslikhats were nominated. Among them 19 candidates were nominated by National Democratic Party “Nur Otan” and 32 more candidates were self-nominated candidates.
7 candidates were nominated to deputies of Oblast Maslikhat, 3 candidates to Maslikhat of Astana, 39 candidates to regional Maslikhat, 2 candidates to urban Maslikhats.
Party lists, which were formed at sessions of June 30, 2007 by “Ruhaniyat” Party and Kazakhstan Social and Democratic Party “Auyl”, haven’t been yet submitted to the Central Election Commission.
