Representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in observation of elections of deputies of the State Duma of Federal Meeting of the Russian Federation of the fifth convocation which took place on 2 December 2007.
12 representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted observation of election campaign in CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly election observation group, 22 - CIS Executive Committee Mission, 5 – under invitation by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, and 3 – in Shanghai Cooperation Organization Mission.
On 3 December 2007 Mission of observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States has released its Statement on the results of observation over preparation and elections of deputies of the State Duma of Federal Meeting of the Russian Federation.
The Statement assessed elections «as free and transparent» and underlined, that infringement revealed by observers from CIS were not serious and did not affect the general results of voting.
Thus, Mission of observers from CIS recognized elections both as corresponding to the electoral legislation of Russia and to «universal approaches in the field of democratic elections» and proposed other international observers to join this statement.
