On 30 July 2008 meeting with the Head of the OSCE Center in Astana Mr. Alexander Keltchewski took place at the venue of the Central Election Commission.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission familiarized participants of the meeting with the work, which is carried out currently by the CEC and election bodies of the country.
The basic directions of this work are the further improvement of the electoral legislation and preparation to the forthcoming in this year elections of the Senate deputies.
K.Turgankulov emphasized that the work on proposals on amendments to the Constitutional Act «On elections in Republic of Kazakhstan» is based on the earlier accumulated positive experience of constructive cooperation between all interested parties within the framework of open dialogue.
In the end of the meeting Mr. Keltchewsky and the CEC Chairman expressed hope for continuation of cooperation in the field of development and further democratization of an electoral system in the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as exchanged opinions on prospects for development of political system of Kazakhstan as a whole in the light of the forthcoming chairmanship of Kazakhstan in OSCE in 2010.
