Central Election Commission adopted regulation «About accreditation of observers of the foreign states and international organizations at elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on October 4, 2008»
On August 13, 2008 the Central Election Commission adopted Regulation «About accreditation of observers of the foreign states and international organizations at elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on October 4, 2008».
According to the regulation observers of foreign states and international organizations shall be accredited by the Central Election Commission till September 28, 2008 following a recommendation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During traditional briefing for mass media after the session the Head of the CEC noted that in 2005 the CEC accredited 52 observers of foreign states and international organizations at elections of deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 43 observers of them represented Election Observation Mission from Commonwealth of Independent States and 4 observers from the International Fund of Electoral Systems (IFES).
From the Kazakhstan nongovernmental organizations the intention to take part in observation of the forthcoming election has expressed Republican Public Association «Public Committee for Control of the Election».

According to the CEC as of August 12, 27 candidates to the Senate deputies were nominated. Of them:
Aktyube oblast - 4 persons;
Atyrau oblast - 4 persons;
Karaganda oblast - 6 persons;
North-Kazakhstan oblast - 1 person;
East- Kazakhstan oblast - 2 persons;
South-Kazakhstan oblast - 5 persons;
Almaty city - 5 persons.
From nominated candidates 5 persons were nominated by maslikhats and 22 are self-nominated. Among nominated candidates 1(one) is a woman.
3 of 27 nominated candidates are acting Senate deputies (in Aktyube, Karaganda and South-Kazakhstan oblasts).
Of nominated candidates 8 are members of NDP «Nur-Otan», 11 are not members of political parties and 8 candidates did not specified their membership in political parties.
According to the Election Calendar approved by the CEC nomination will take place till September 3.
