Central Election Commission has registered a candidate to deputy of the Mazhilis, nominated by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan
Today Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in conformity with Article 89 of the Constitutional Act of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan” has taken a decision to register Mr. Oleg Dymov as a candidate to deputy of Mazhilis, nominated by the Council of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan.
According to the Calendar Plan of major activities on preparation and conduction of election of a deputy of the Mazhilis, to be elected by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan on October 23, 2008 instead of released Mazhilis deputy, registration of candidates must be finished on October 17, 2008.
Since October 18, 2008 registered candidate is eligible to start election campaign, which according to Calendar Plan will be lasted until 24:00 hours of October 21, 2008.
For the purposes of conduction of election campaign in media the government provides a registered candidate with funds for broadcasting 15-minutes speech on television, 10-minutes speech in radio as well as publication of two articles of no more than 0,1 printer’s sheet and for transport costs.
Corresponding resolution on approval of standards on candidate’s expenditures has been adopted by CEC at today’s session.
In addition, CEC approved the text of a ballot paper, the rate of its security and total number of ballot papers to be manufactured, including the reserve – one percent of the total number of voters.
According to CEC resolution 385 ballot papers must be delivered to the election commission of Astana not later than October 21, 2008.
During the briefing conducted at the end of the CEC session acting Chairman of the CEC Mr. Bakhyt Meldeshov noted that “election campaign is taking place in calm atmosphere and in full compliance with the electoral legislation”.
CEC has not received any complaints and appeals on violation of provisions of the election law from the participants of election process, citizens and organizations.
