On 24 March 2015 there was a meeting of the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Turgankulov with the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission at early election of the President of Kazakhstan Ms. Cornelia Willemien Anke Jonker.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission Ms. Meaghan McCabe Fitzgerald, Deputy Chairman of the CEC Foos V.K., the CEC members Okhlopkova T.V. and Sarsembayev M.A., the OSCE/ODIHR EOM legal analyst Ms. Merce Castells Vicente, OSCE/ODIHR EOM election analyst Mr. Raul Lucian Muresan and the OSCE/ODIHR senior election advisor Mr. Radivoje Grujic.
The CEC Head briefed Ms. Jonker with the work of the Central Election Commission on preparation and conduct of early election, main stages of election campaign and its peculiarities.
“We are ready to cooperate, open for international observers and consider their participation in election observation as promoting the atmosphere of openness and transparency of the upcoming election, increase the confidence of all stakeholders of the election process”, - K. Turgankulov noted.
The Head of OSCE/ODIHR EOM expressed appreciation for the invitation to take part in observation of the election campaign as well as the hope that the cooperation between the Mission’s experts with the CEC members on all aspects of electoral process will be close and professional.
“We look forward to positive and productive cooperation”, - she noted.
“We have experience and practice of interaction. I think that the CEC representatives in the operating mode could discuss with the Mission’s experts in detail their questions during the whole election campaign”, - K. Turgakulov said.
During meeting it was also noted that Kazakh authorities and election administration will make every effort to ensure that the electoral campaign was in strict compliance with the rules of electoral law and generally accepted international principles for democratic elections.
At the end of the meeting K. Turgankulov whished the experts of the OSCE/ODIHR EOM a success in a fair and impartial election observation. “I think that the interests of Mission’s experts, the CEC members and all stakeholders of the electoral process are exactly the same”, - he noted.
