MEMBER OF CEC RK MIKHAIL BORTNIK REVIEWED THE 

PROGRESS PREPARATIONS FOR THE ELECTIONS

IN THE EAST KAZAKHSTAN REGION

On August 13-14, 2026, Mikhail Bortnik, a member of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the East Kazakhstan region on an inspection trip and got acquainted with the preparations for the election of deputies of the Kurultai, as well as studied the work of territorial and precinct election commissions.

During the trip, he visited polling stations in the cities of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Ridder, met with representatives of government agencies, chairmen of territorial and precinct election commissions.

On the first day of the visit, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mikhail Bortnik with the participation of the regional leadership, the prosecutor's office, internal affairs bodies, the Department of Emergency Situations, Social Protection and representatives of other government agencies in the region. During the meeting, information was provided on the preparations for the elections and on the planned events.

The CEC member instructed to ensure that the elections are held in strict accordance with the requirements of the electoral legislation, paying special attention to creating the necessary conditions at polling stations for all participants in the electoral process and accessibility of polling stations for people with disabilities. In addition, he focused on the issues of organizing voting outside the polling station in order to fully ensure the electoral rights of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who cannot arrive at the polling station on election day for health reasons, due to caring for a ill family member, as well as those living in remote and hard-to-reach areas where polling stations are not established. He also drew the attention of the meeting participants to the fact that some citizens are on vacation in the summer, and instructed them to continue extensive explanatory work with voters on the procedure for obtaining absentee voting certificates. 

On the next day of the visit, the working group visited the Ridder city Polling Stations No. 125, 129, and 131. Priority is given to the organization of the activities of precinct election commissions, training of commission members, and logistical equipment.

A training seminar for members of precinct commissions was held at Polling Station No. 125. An analysis of practice-oriented cases and situations that members of the commission may encounter directly at the polling stations has been conducted. Following the results of the seminar, an assessment of the level of knowledge of the legislation was carried out. The testing was conducted on the basis of the subsystem of distance learning and testing of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Following the inspection visit, Mikhail Bortnik stressed the importance of continuous and systematic improvement of the professional training of election commissions, ensuring the readiness of polling stations and strengthening cooperation with government agencies. He noted that one of the main priorities at all stages of the organization of elections is compliance with the requirements of the law, ensuring the rights of voters and transparency of the electoral process.

It should be noted that there are 534 polling stations in the region, which involve 3,692 commission members.
