NURLAN ABDIROV: RESPECT FOR CITIZENS’ RIGHTS 

DEPENDS ON THE PROFESSIONALISM OF EVERY

 ELECTION COMMISSION MEMBER

Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov and Secretary of the Commission Shavkhat Utemissov paid an inspection visit to the Mangystau region to review preparations for the elections to the Kurultai. As part of the working visit, they visited polling stations in the cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau and met with representatives of government bodies, as well as chairpersons of territorial and precinct election commissions.

On the first day of the visit, the CEC Chairman visited Polling Stations No. 89 and 283 in Zhanaozen. Nurlan Abdirov inspected the conditions created to ensure citizens can exercise their electoral rights. The inspection also covered the equipment of information stands and the availability and accessibility of the necessary materials.

“Election commissions pay close attention to protecting citizens’ personal data in their work. One element of this approach is the use of a special template. We have been using it during several election campaigns. When it is placed over the general voter list, a person can see only their own personal data and sign in the appropriate field,” - Nurlan Abdirov noted. 

The following day, the working group led by the СEC Chairman reviewed the work of polling stations, including those opened this year. Particular attention was paid to ensuring the necessary conditions at polling stations for all categories of citizens. In particular, the group was shown the operation of a tracked stair lift installed for persons with disabilities who are unable to use stairs independently.

Under the chairmanship of Nurlan Abdirov, a meeting was held with representatives of government bodies in the Mangystau region. Preparations for the elections of deputies of the Kurultai were discussed with representatives of the regional akimat, the prosecutor’s office, internal affairs bodies, the Department of Emergency Situations, social protection authorities, and other government agencies. Participants reported on the work carried out and the measures being taken to prepare for the elections.

The Chairman of the CEC RK noted that coordinated efforts by all government bodies and election commissions are an important prerequisite for the effective organization and conduct of elections. According to him, preparations for the elections should be carried out systematically, in strict compliance with legal requirements, and aimed at ensuring the rights of every voter.

During a meeting with the chairpersons of territorial and precinct election commissions in the city of Aktau, Nurlan Abdirov outlined their key tasks during the preparation and conduct of voting. He placed particular emphasis on strict compliance with electoral legislation, ensuring equal conditions for all participants in the electoral process, properly organizing the work of polling stations, completing electoral documents in accordance with established procedures, and interacting with observers and media representatives.

Participants also discussed the specifics of the summer period, when some citizens are away on vacation. In this regard, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission instructed officials to continue conducting broad outreach among voters on the procedure for using absentee voting certificates.

“I call on members of precinct election commissions to work openly and in a coordinated manner, ensure the transparency of the electoral process, and do everything possible to facilitate the exercise of citizens’ constitutional right to participate in elections. The professional and responsible work of each of you directly determines the observance of citizens’ electoral rights and the implementation of the principles of legality and transparency in elections,” - Nurlan Abdirov concluded.
