Chairman of Kazakhstan’s CEC Met with a Delegation of Observers
from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov discussed preparations for the upcoming elections of deputies of the Kurultai, as well as the mission’s work plans, during a meeting with the leadership of the observer delegation from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
The CEC Chairman emphasized the long-standing experience of cooperation and the consistent participation of CIS IPA observers in monitoring electoral campaigns in Kazakhstan. Nurlan Abdirov recalled the mission’s involvement in observing the referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution held in Kazakhstan in March this year. He also highly praised the professionalism and objectivity demonstrated by the CIS IPA observers during that process.
In this regard, the CEC Chairman informed the delegation members about the reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan on the initiative of the Head of State. He also briefed them on the new developments in electoral legislation and the stages of the election campaign. Nurlan Abdirov outlined the key indicators of the electoral infrastructure and the work being carried out to inform voters. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring the electoral rights of persons with disabilities.
During the meeting, it was noted that, as part of the ongoing election campaign, all necessary conditions will be created for international observers to ensure the full and effective work of their missions. Following the meeting, the international observers answered questions from journalists during a traditional media briefing.
