Deputy Chairman of the CEC Mukhtar Yerman met with

an OSCE delegation

On May 18, 2026, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Yerman held a meeting with a delegation of permanent representatives to the OSCE. The meeting was attended by Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives to the OSCE of Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Canada, as well as the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States to the OSCE.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OSCE, including in the electoral sphere, and emphasized the importance of constructive and sustainable partnership.

The delegation was provided with information on the constitutional reform being carried out in the country and the referendum that had taken place. The interlocutors were interested in issues related to the transformation of the electoral system and its infrastructure, as well as the measures being taken to ensure the electoral rights of persons with disabilities.

During the exchange of views, the importance of preventing external interference in sovereign electoral processes was emphasized.

For her part, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Germany to the OSCE Susanne Schütz highly praised Kazakhstan’s close cooperation with the OSCE/ODIHR, noting that strengthening interaction contributes to the development of strategic partnership.

Mukhtar Yerman stated that an invitation would be sent to the OSCE, in accordance with the established procedure, to carry out international observation of the upcoming elections of deputies to the Kurultai.

As part of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand cooperation in the electoral sphere and strengthen interaction.
