On October 21, 2005 the Working Group of the RK Central Election Commission held a meeting on considering the appeals of the citizens and organizations in connection with the RK Presidential Elections.
The representative of the OSCE/ODIHR attended the meeting.
For the period from September 8, 20005 through October 20, 2005 the Central Election Commission received 106 appeals from the citizens and organizations; three of them were not associated with the RK Presidential elections organization and holding. The CEC clarified the appeals connected with the election legislation, deputies’ requests, as well as the appeals concerning the non-compliance of the presidential contender with the requirements.
The appeals regarding violations committed during the process of signatures collections in support of the candidates for the Presidency in the RK, governmental agencies’ violations, violations of the rules for implementation of pre-election campaign were also considered. “Not one of the appeals forwarded to the Central and territorial election commissions remains without response”, Oral Mukanov, Head of the CEC staff noticed.
At present 34 appeals were forwarded to the General Prosecutor’s Office and two appeals - to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Kuandyk Turgankuov, Deputy Chairman of the RK Central Election Commission pointed out to the necessity of close consideration of and control over appeals and complaints coming from the oblast and territorial election commissions.
Summing up the meeting the members of the CEC Working Group emphasized that if the violations described in the letters were confirmed they would take all appropriate measures.
