On 27 October 2005 the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Onalsyn Zhumabekov met with the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Jan Kubish.
     The political advisors of the Special Representative – Gints Apals and Viktor Richter, as well as other officials, also took part in this meeting.
     The sides discussed the issues related to preparation of the Presidential Elections. Chairman Zhumabekov informed about the activities of the Central Election Commission.      The sides exchanged views on electoral legislation and election systems of the EU member states and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
     Jan Kubish noted significant progress of Kazakhstan in terms of democratic reforms.
